New to the forum new ‘76 sierra grande owner, what is this button?

Hi I purchased a 76 quarter ton sierra grande a few months ago, as you can see the previous owner put some modification into it. Any idea what this button on the floor near the parking brake does? It just depresses, no click.

That's your high/low beam switch.

If you ever have the need to replace it, refer to it as a "dimmer switch"..that's what name it is recognized as.

...and it’s not a modification,it’s factory.

It’s definitely the dimmer switch, and it’s stock.

But for passengers you could come up with any explanation.
- ejection seat button for unpleasant passenger
- NOS controller for your weekend drag racing
- air suspension up/down for your low rider
- ??
