Dana 60 front and rear?

Yay or nah? Was suggested no to waste money on rebuilding stock. Any suggestions?

What's the intended use of the truck?

Play, work and show. No rock crawling. May take it in mud.

Not sure if it matters but I do want to make it automatic.

In that case, your current axles will do the job just fine.

I really like the 14 bolt FF for the rear axle. I'd think it would be very easy to find one of those anywhere.
Front axle dana 60 is nice- but I just have the dana 44 in mine and have taken it all kinda of places. I have a eaton trutrac in it instead of a full locker though which can increase the stress on it.

Thanks 77, I don't know jack about rear ends. Learn something new everyday.

The best thing about he 14 bolt full floater is if you break an axleshaft you can still drive the vehicle (the tire and wheel remain on the vehicle). I broke a 12 bolt axle shaft on my old truck once and and was stranded. Had to wait for a tow truck.

You see when you break the axleshaft or the c clip there is nothing left to hold the tire/wheel to the truck and you get this:

14 bolt ff also has some other nice features. It has spanner nuts on either side of the carrier so setup is a breeze, no sorting and trying shims. It also has a pilot bearing on the end of the pinion which eliminates deflection. Also the pinion comes out in its own housing which makes setting pinion depth or changing the seal easier. But I don't care for the clamshell carrier. You can't do a slip-in locker or limited slip like a Lock-Right.

Rust

It's a shame about all the rust. Where did you get yours from? I'm 17 and recently got my first one as well, although I drove to Montana (with my grandpa) to pay the guy 800 personally, she has practically no rust. She's a beauty but like yours still needs some work (2500 C20)

Um, unless a solid axle conversion was done on that it's an IFS front diff. You wouldn't use that in a square.

Did the newer burbs run a dana rear axle? Thought they were all corporate rear ends?

I believed the 14 was one of the best corporate axles (may be wrong) what's the front a 10? I've been happy with mine there should be some more letters right side on top mines a kdk which means its 4:10 gears there's a thread for all the diff types

So I didn't get the burb. I did notice and correct me if I'm wrong... When spinning the rear wheels and the transmission is in neutral... Should the drive shaft be spinning? While spinning the wheels, the drive shaft wanted to spin but couldn't.
