another half way pre-built option is using toyota rock sliders and welding them to frame standoffs

If they made them for standard cabs, my 5 foot tall wife would force me to get those.

@Camar068 - thanks for the tip on searching, simple has been better so far. looking into accessory information about step/nerf bars. the recent 4" lift has created a look I REALLY like, but a challenge for smaller folks to get in/out of the cab and into the bed. lots of interesting posts/feedback from users on this topic for sure.

Really limited in what you can do without relocating the gas tank(s) to a blazer/suburban tank or in the bed fuel tank. Basically can only install little hoop steps that bolt to the body afaik.
Same with the re-engineered AMP steps. Thats why they call out for a burb. Gotta lose the saddle tank(s) for most any other step option.
But if you’re looking for a retractable step. My previous suggestion with a string tied to the handle makes it retractable. Lol
