1986 CUCV M1008 (K30). Wheels are Hummer H2 with ~5 5/8" backspacing. The 12.5" wide tires that were on the truck when I got it rubbed the drag link at full lock to the right (it tore the rubber boot open). The new tires are Nitto Recon Grappler 255/80R17s (33" tall, 10" wide), and clear just fine. The truck is stock height, with sagged front springs. This size is an E-rated tire, which works great on this 1.25-ton truck. I'm pleased with them overall, but just use the truck very mildly just around town and our rural property. I can't speak to any real "performance" handling...it's just a doggy 6.2L diesel truck. :D

Maybe you guys don't remember our buddy Dave. I'm pretty sure it was Firestones he was talking about. But he was giving his opinion on tires of what is good and bad. I personally don't care what brand you get, there is going to be some bad models in all brands, so I'm not much of a brand guy, but a model guy. But Dave gave his opinion and it ended with don't buy Firestones, at least I think it was Firestones. I asked what is wrong with Firestones. His response was, "They go flat" . I mean it had to be a highlight of this forum forever and needs to go in the GMSB History book. Yep, don't buy Firestones, they go flat. I bet @Old77 @bucket @Mr Clean @animal @89Suburban @RetroC10Sport will all remember that one. Telling ya, that dude.... WOW !!! Harmless but....
Yes, I remember that. Almost funnier than you stepping in dog sh&t with your bare feet :D

He was quite the character, one of "ONELUCKYPOP'S" favorites. Whatever happened to that guy OLP too?
I don't know. Haven't heard from him in many years now. He used to call me from time to time. Last I had heard, me moved out of MO and I think towards his inlaws. That didn't work out well and went back to MO fairly quick IIRC and have not heard from him sicne. .

Nope. He's still got a valid screen name. Just hasn't been here for a few years

I remember that avatar, too. That was originally a meme that was posted to troll some members on here back in the early days. :D Either me or @89Suburban brought that meme over here from NPT

I think the system may make users unable to be tagged if they haven't been here for a long time until they log back in. Probably assume that there's no reason to tag someone who's not active

I think I joined around the time he was gone or about to leave. I did not read that stuff about his tire preference and that he hated one brand because they went flat. But that is hilarious! All tires can go flat...lol...

I was surprised when Pop told me that uhaul wouldn't rent a trailer if he was towing it with the Explorer because it came with Firestone tires. It's a 2004 model, yeah it had its mechanical issues, but they got it ironed out through the dealership, and it's been a good reliable vehicle for them, and numerous sets of tires since the original Firestones wore out. And even those didn't blow out or anything.
