Hello everyone. Just sold my 2019 Ram 1500 and picked up a 1983 c20 Suburban with the original 6.2 diesel in it. The truck has 99k miles and is rust free as far as I can tell. 3spd auto, 2wd truck. This is all new to me as I have not owned a square body or a suburban previously, but I've always been a huge fan. I'm going to keep it relatively stock, I'll probably be switching the straight pipes for a regular exhaust at some point and removing the front push bar.
Looking forward to learning a lot here. Any input on things to look out for or things to do the the truck / engine for more reliability or performance would be welcome.

Thanks guys. I think I overpaid a little ($7,500) but it really is in great shape, brand new wheels and tires, no rips or tears inside. I wish it was a 4spd truck, but there were zero options down here for something clean and original like this one.

Welcome from another 6.2 burban owner. I love my truck and I think you will too. Keep us updated with pictures of your work and adventures with the truck.

Great starting point. I agree it would look better without the push bar up front, and removing a couple other things to tidy it up wouldn't hurt.

What is going on here? Is that the lowest hanging exhaust ever or is it a second bar to kill any animals the one up front might miss?

The previous owner put ladder bars on it for some reason. I also see some skyjacker shocks up front when I was crawling underneath it today, but it does not seem lifted at all. He towed a camper with it I was told, it does have a brake controller in it and air bags on the rear so perhaps the traction bars helped with traction when it was loaded up? I can't imagine this thing ever spinning the tires.

took it for it's first drive tonight and I'm falling in love with it already.
