Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself and post some pics of my new Suburban. I bought this thing sight unseen from a guy down in Maryland. He was kind enough to send me pics of all the rust and negatives (which isnt much) and I made the choice to buy it without seeing it in person. I arranged delivery via uship and a few days later it arrived at my house.
Its an 89 V1500 with 166k on the clock. Dont know much on the history but it was cared for well. Previous owner claims the head gasket is busted so thats the first order of business. I plan on pulling the head and checking for cracks. If it passes then I'll check for warpage. If that goes well then a new gasket and back on it goes. The name of the game here is cheap. I'm not looking to build a race truck, go offroading, or even tow stuff. This will be a people hauler and wont even get a lift (maybe an add a leaf in the rear for sagging).
Next order of business after its running is to get the interior buttoned up. Reinstall the glove box, finish the rear headliner, upgrade the sound system, steam clean the seats and carpet.
There will be a build thread once I accumulate some progress pics.
