Hello. First time Square Body owner here in California. I bought this 75 C30 with a 454 about 6 months ago. Story on the truck it was bought new in Burbank California by a contractor. About 8 years go it was sold to another business in Bakersfield. A company I worked for bought that company and the truck was transferred to our yard in Ventura. With our company paying low wages for the route drivers we get young employees, they didn’t even know how to set a choke. The battery was low as they cranked the crap out of the truck, the carb had the well plugs leaking so fuel wasn’t in the carb over a few days, again cranking until the battery was low. It sat in the yard for a few months, I would get it going again only to have the guys repeat. They broke the cables on the lift gate overloading. It had exhaust leaks at the manifold. One day I told the boss that it wasn’t working out for the truck, I’ll give you $1500 and make it disappear as the company didn’t really like putting money into the trucks. I drove it home, repaired the lift gate, new manifold gaskets, replaced the carb (Q jet is being redone so it’s a Eselbrock for now), fixed the A/C, radiator rebuild, tune up and now I’m to the point only thing not working is the courtesy lights, as soon as I get a few minutes I’ll work on that. Zero rust, like none. I did post looking for info on the fuel selector knob, pisses me off as it had it when if came down from Bakersfield. I’m a retired heavy equipment mechanic, working on cars has always been my hobby. I do have a few other older cars like my pro street Chevy LUV.
