Hello,
New member from Iowa. This is my first squarebody (though Dad had one in '82). I picked it up about 5 weeks ago. It has been sitting about 18 months or so in the pasture at the farm. Was in a an accident that bent the front axle so that will need attention. Also has a hole in the oil pan. Engine does roll over and all of it is there aside from the AC compressor. Was not looking for another project but it was too good of a deal to pass up and I did not want to see it parted out or scrapped. Does have some Iowa rust but it is not as bad as most are. Lived it's entire life on the farm.
Plan is to get it over to the shop and see what it needs to get back into service. Just starting to learn about these trucks as I am much more versed in the '67-72 and '88-'95 models.

Thanks you AyWoSch. Should have mentioned the year. It's a '73. Built in Feb of '73 actually. Early model as it has the dealer installed rain "gutters". 350/350 with 4.10 axles. Must have been one of the last trucks to be available with split rims, my '67 had them but I had never seen them on anything '72 or newer until this one.

Welcome to the site. It looks like the front axle is a Dana 60 from the locking hub, if that go bent in the accident I'd be looking for other damage.

You're welcome.
Nice. That's a solid setup. Rims might be from an older truck. Never heard of split rims on a square. Cool and unique though.
My grandpa had a 71 k10, those are great trucks too

Welcome!
That’s just about my favorite square right there!
And it should be a big hub Dana 44 front axle.
Warning, be nice to those hubs as parts like the specific O ring and bushings are nit available anymore I don’t think. I’ve heard the old original big hubs are pretty valuable to restorers.

Hello All,
Thanks for the all the welcomes. Front axle is a Dana 44 with 4.10 gears. I plan on switching the knuckles over to keep the hubs. The axle is bent but the frame is still straight. It was an odd hit. Rims are original to the truck, they were ordered so the original owner could change his own tires. Truck has run old Goodyear Mud Grips for years. I have not found a date code on the tires yet but they rather old. It has been a farm truck it's entire life. I will likely find some single piece rims for it regardless and keep the splits. The truck was pulled out of the barn about 4 years ago and put back on the road once before but was parked about 18 months ago. We pulled it over to my shop with a 1944 Massey Harris. Plans are to get it back up for a chore truck (will park it in the winter though).
I will start a build thread on the appropriate sub forum (once I figure out where that is) and give a more detailed history of the truck.
