New Hood and Hinges...Fit Problem

OK...so I put on a high rise hood and at the same time installed new hinges from LMC. No matter how I try to adjust them, the hood sticks up 1/2"+ at the rear. Any ideas, tricks, or experience in adjusting would be helpful

I assume you are trying to adjust your 73, not your 87. The holes in the hood hinges should be slotted where they bolt to the fender, is this where you are making your adjustments?

That is correct. The new hinges also have new springs

There should be a post bolt at the back corners of the hood on the cab on each side, and slots in the hood. Make sure the post bolts are going in the slots like they should and not holding the hood up there.

yup, checked that and no clearance problems

Compare the LMC hinges to the stockers and see if it's something obvious, then compare the hood. If it makes any difference the hoods stick up a little on the back on both mine and dad's truck, 77 & 79. I can usually push down on the back and make it settle in better. Maybe a good wd-40/lithium grease bath on the hinges? Mine always seem to do better after a good spraying.

It's either hitting the alignment bolts wrong when closing, or the hinges are weak and flimsy. I know you said the bolts aren't hitting, but try removing them anyway. If the hood fits better that's your problem. You can check the integrity of the hinges by removing the tension springs and see if it sits better when it closes.

As for the actual hinge adjustment, it doesn't always work best to lower the hinge front and rear. Instead, loosen the hinge to fender bolts, have a helper open the hood as far as it can go while you tighten the bolts back down. It may sound backwards, but that's how you get them adjusted to the lowest setting.
