So I am retired due to health, and looking to get out of my Landcruiser and into a late-70s to square body 3/4 or 1 ton.

I look forward to learning from y’all as I read up on old threads.

Find a solid CUCV. Lift it 4 inches & add 36's. Towing & wheeling are very doable with these rigs with a similar setup. And CUCV's are just plain cool to boot!

Drove these plenty of times in the service as M1028. They handled well. I’m very willing to trim fenders (tastefully) to reduce the amount of lift needed to fit tires, to minimize the way it affects handling.

3/4s and 1 tons are all going to be long beds, not your typical trail vehicle.
That’s why it will be for mild to moderate trails. I don’t get too crazy, but I’ll need ground clearance. We want to tow a trailer for boondocking and exploring the country. And I like to hit trails that aren’t too technical, but get away from it all. I really want to do the North Georgia Traverse soon.

working on this truck 85, making it an overlander, 6.2 diesel, 3/4 ton, two wheel drive. This 73 3/4 ton, four wheel drive is also a good rig, less gas mileage.
