Just thought I'd introduce myself!!
I'm from a small town in western South Dakota and own an 85 Suburban.
I like this thing because it's big, it's in pretty good shape and it's a Chevy!!
And one other thing - It has a carburetor!!
I understand how those things work...
It has 122,000 + miles on it and is my "hunting/shooting" vehicle.
I love the size and I can keep a lot of stuff in it inside and out of the weather!!
Stuff like my bench rest, brass catcher, sand bags, binoculars, steel targets, etc.
It originally had a 350 that was very wore out and smoked a lot.
I took it out and overhauled the bitch, but must have missed something...
It never had the right amount of oil pressure.
I suspect it's because I didn't replace the cam bearings...
Didn't have the right tool to replace them and thought I'd "take a chance"...

I had a 305 out of an 84 Chevy pick-up that was in decent shape, so I took
the 350 out and put that in. Not much power - but better mileage!!
I figured I'd figured I'd fix the 350 up right and put it back in...
But it's been 7 or 8 years and that hasn't happened yet!!
I did put headers on it and a 2-1/2 exhaust with a couple of really long Thrush glass-packs.
I bought the exhaust pipe and cut and welded the whole exhaust.
It exits in front of the rear wheels - I always thought that was cool!!
Anyway - I have a not-so-good back (had surgery a few years ago) and I'm
getting old and fat - And it gets a little more difficult for me every time I have to work on it...
I've even been entertaining thoughts of upgrading...
But - I wanna keep my old suburban forever!!
And I'm hoping this site will help that to happen.
