Don't know how many Minnesota boys are on here. Been sifting the net a few days for info on my 454 tbi swap and this forum always comes up so figured I'd join so I can post! Great forum with great info! The swap is going ok, had no idea how many little things would be different from a 91 454 out of van to 87 350 in my blazer! I knew 87 was the first year for tbi and alotta parts were 1 year only but I didn't expect to find out 90 or so was a big change over year for wiring and ecms! I'm making it work, goin to the parts store six lol cuz I ha e to order parts for 4 vehicles just so they fit. I'm now at a crossroads where I have to decide if I can make a 98 4L80E work standalone or build my 700 to handle it. I'd rather go 4L80E but it need a rebuild and a tcm, 700 would be spendthrift to build strong...I only wanna put a total of $1000 more into it as I'm not building it pretty, just functional and not a DD. I also need an under dash wiring schematic if someone can point me in the right direction such as a sticky or someone who knows a lot about 87 under dash. The previous owner fried some wiring. There is 1 wire in a harness of about 6 wires or so, there's a connector about 4 inches before the ecumenical where this harness turns around and heads back up behind the IP. The crispy wire in this harness is back with a white line, there are a couple fat orange wires in the harness and maybe a solid black. I don't notice anything wrong with the truck but I was tugging at it see where it went and I couldn't find it. I'd rather know wat it is, snip it, and run a new wire rather than trace it and mangle my harness. If anyone has a slight idea I can post a pic. Anyway sorry for the novel lol. Great site!:

Its a work in progress, since 08 wen I bought it lol. Can't sit still, keep buying more! I've started and stopped at least 4 times or more. My display pic is the only one I currently have, too bad it posted crooked! Thinking it'll just be a brush rig so it'll be custom rattlecan black Haha. I hope to get it running tonight or tomorrow lI heard it run for 5 mins in 09 before I pulled it, ran sweet until AC comp seized and snapped the belt, started pulling it right after. Excited to hear it run!! Open headers should sound nice for its first startup! I put a 31 gal tank in it from a burb, biggest one I could find that fit like factory.

This is my burnt wire, one of the black and white ones. Pic borrowed from 89Suburbans interior disassembly. Anyone know wat this connector is for?

Welcome to the site. The picture you posted doesn't show what this plugs into, is it a relay? Most of the time a black with a white stripe is a control or refernce ground for a ECM device, but not always.

Its a harness, comes off a bigger harness from driver side, right before it goes to ecumenical, it turns back the other way and heads toward the cluster area. Its a plug with wires on both aides. The Blaze does have a factory replacement ecm, previous owner musta burnt original up. Either this wire still works even tho there's no insulation on it whatsoever and by some miricle it hasn't shorted to anything yet or its broken and not doing anything. Wen I had the 350 in it, it did have a tendency to die a lot at low idle wen warm and if you put it in reverse. The oil pressure sender for fuel pump was also NOT CONNECTED so I'm assuming that was the dying prob. Finding this crispy possibly open wire may cause the BB to die as well idk, haven't ran it yet. Have to find diagram and see

Sadly the diagrams that I have don't show the harness to harnes conectors. Have you checked, continuity, the burnt wire to ground? If it is a ground it would indicate a bad connection to ground causing a high amp draw and that would melt the wire.

Haven't had time to touch it the last few days, 12 hr dayshifts take it outta me lol. I hope its just a ground, thad be nice. PO had a "competition " audio system I'm there, wire had grounded and burnt all hos wiring and possibly some factory as well. Or possibly factory got burnt wen him and his accomplice put in the new long block. Needless to say northern of them had any business opening the hood from wat I've seen. I did get a good deal on it tho, $350 with a "burnt up wiring harness". It wouldn't start so that's wat he figured. I towed it a block back to my dorm. Popped the hood, saw battle terminals were green. I cleaned em up, threw a charge on it, fired right up! I drove it back to his place e and told him way was wrong and he had the dumbest look on his face lol. It had a crate 350 in it wen I got it with 25k on it:) I got a good deal, just alotta tlc, I'm not on it too much money yet. I have come to the conclusion tho that it's not worth doing a total restoration on because it'd need lots of body work, frame work, more drivetrain, suspension, wiring, and wat I'm going to use it for it doesn't need to be super nice. Just gotta have everything working. Found a thread on another forum on how to install the newer cruise control. Got a lot of other ideas for it too for comfort and convenience. It'll be sweet not pretty:) main goal is interior cuz that's where you are wen you drive so I'm gonna have goodies! Ill post pics wen I can.
