New brake shoe is coming off of anchor pin

I just replaced the drums, brake shoes, wheel cylinders and springs on my 1980 Chevy K10 and the front shoe moves more than the rear and is coming off the anchor pin when engaged. There is also a loud grinding noise when driving down the road. Attached is a picture after the brakes are engaged. Brakes were bled all the way around also. Thanks in advance!

I'm going to ask the standard questions. Did the brakes behave normally before you changed them. Did you compare the old parts to the new parts to mke sure they matched? Did you reset the adjuster when you changed everything?

At least we know you can spell Derek right.

I would take the right side shoe off again. The bottom of the shoe has got to be out of position based on how high the top is.

Likely emergency brake cable is stuck.

This pic is of the rear passenger. The reason I changed the brakes was because the wheel cylinders were leaking and the star adjusters were not spinning due to rust, I’m guessing the back brakes weren’t even engaging due to the state of the wheel cylinders.
I did compare the other side and took a pic prior to taking everything off. The star adjuster can only be turned out a little before the drums won’t go on. This was my first time doing this so it’s definitely possible I didn’t do something right. When I first test drove it around the block it didn’t make the grinding noise but started later that day.

CHECK THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE!

2 ways to do it. Grab the cable on the forward end where it links to the front cable, give it a pull. Should move reasonably easily or option 2 using a small pry bar or large screwdriver try to pry the lever behind the shoe on the left [in the picture] to the left. If the emergency brake cable is already pulled or stuck the lever behind the left shoe will push on the horizontal link expanding the shoe set.

you need to spin the star after you put the drum on.

there is a lot of gap to fill after the drum goes on.
