my GETRAG G360 crapped out NV4500 swap on the way need help with crossmember

hey guys its been a while but im back haha !! my G360 **** the bed , so im doing a NV4500 swap . I have the 29 spline np 205 from my getrag but I have most of everything figured out but I know there is a stock cross member I can use if anyone has the year an tranny or clear up my confusion please let me know , also there's some spline connector that im supposed to have whats that ?


have adaptor plate
have bell housing
have clutch
have nv 4500 slave cylinder
have 29 spline transfer case

need

cross member
an connect the 29 spline np205 to the nv4500 ( don't know what people are talking about )

first thing is your nv4500 from a dodge or a chevy.
I don't know what it takes to put a 205 on a dodge nv4500 but I know you can build a dodge/chevy hybrid nv4500. dodge front input shaft and chevy rear output.

the cross member you need is from 85 up chevy I am pretty sure they used the same cross member for all trannies in squares after 85. on a1 ton you will need to put the cross member inside the frame and space the tranny up a 1/2'' to make up the difference in the frames 2'' total

look at my nv4500 thread for details on how I done mine

for a chevy nv4500
it has a 32 spline output shaft
you will need a turbo 400 205 32 spline short input and it will fit the nv4500 after cutting for clearance for the shift rail.

or you can use a 32 spline 205 long input gear and the adapter from advance adapters. but you still need to clearance the nv4500 for the shift rail.

the easiest way would be to get a spline coupler but My thinking is the right way to do it would be buy a dodge 29spline tail shaft

ok so change the nv4500 tail shaft to a 29 spline? dodge nv4500 to my knowledge were already , tail coupler ... I look to see what I drag up , oh man thanks !!! ok where did you get the tranny mount do you have a part number ? my truck is already swapped with dodge G360 , I got a NV4500 from a 98 dodge with the 29 spline transfer case form the GETRAG

are you talking about spacing up the cross member or are you talking about spacing up the mount for the 1/2

do you know part numbers ? to crossreferance exact models so im not looking for a needle in a hay stack

no 89 k2500 is the wrong body style

I have a couple I would sell you 1 for 40 bucks plus shipping

and as for your question on spacing the mount if you look at the pic I posted of the energy suspension mount it shows my 1/4'' spacers 1 on top and 1 on bottom to get a 1/2''

the 1 ton frame is 2'' taller than a half ton. moving the cross member makes up 1.5'' and the spacers make up the other 1/2''.

I don't know if a dodge tranny uses the same mount or not that's something you will need to figure out

only difference in the 2 is gearing an spline count cases are the same !!!!!!

that's fine ! lol just long as I get one !!! but thank you so much man !! I just hope it is the same !! but all the info that I have looked up so far say that the cases are the same

so take a empty nv4500 it needs to have a dodge input(the part that goes to the motor) then seeing is you already have a very rare and expensive 29spline np205 you need a 29spline output on the nv4500

so bottom line here is you need a dodge 29spline nv 4500HD


I had my nv4500 custom built with a dodge front(so it connected to the Cummins) and I wanted to reuse my np208 Chevy transfer case so I had them put a 32spline output

right an that's what I have I have a 98 dodge NV4500 dodge input shaft an with a 29 spline out put shaft ! but some one was talking about a coupler or something to connect the 2 the getrag np205 an the nv4500 an the reason im stupid on the subject is I just haven't done this yet , I guess once I get under there an get the transfer case off an see what im working with ill understand a little bit better , I know that theres a sleeve that has to connect the 2 but I have that on my getrag is the nv4500 shorter ?
