Just bought an 85 C20 Fleetside Longbed with 8 lug wheels all around what do I call this configuration? I plan to drop the truck with flip kit in rear, but front is another matter. Are the spindles the same throughout the C Class? Rather is the 8 lug (I guess this is classed as a 1 ton rated) lug configuration strickley a different rotor? or is the whole spindle assy different? I live in Northern California Is there any square body salvage yards in this area? Any help will be most appreciated.

8 lug on 3/4 ton is normal. Can't say for sure about the spindle difference, I believe there's ways to go about a 5 lug/8 lug swap, although I might be getting mixed up. Good luck with it either way!

Not sure how this forum works yet, but I will have a lot of questions about this build.

The next one is about the overload (system)?
There is a linkage going from the top of the rearend to the frame with brake? lines in and out of it. Could someone tell me how it works?
I plan to flip the rear so the whole thing is going to be 6 inches higher and would this trip this apparatus?

That is the LSPV valve. Load sensing proportioning valve.
GMs attempt to tone down the big capable drum brakes for light load conditions and give full braking power when loaded (suspension sagged).
It rotates x amount of degrees with the arm moving based on suspension height.
Most folks get rid of them. And unless you have big tires and or a heavy truck it will lock up the rear brakes easily if they’re working properly.
Some add another manually adjustable proportion valve in its place.

I kind of want to ditch mine but it’s in good shape and everything works great and original brake lines are still shiny. With the 35s I’m running it stops on a dime when they’re grabbing with full power. I need to locate and lock it in that position as it goes in and out.
