First off I would like to say hello as I am new here. I have had a couple K-20, & C20 trucks for a few years that I keep up at my house in the mountains.I usually build about 1 vehicle a year or sometimes it takes 2. Been wanting to slam a square body for a while now and trying to buy this 78 for about 2 years off and on.
Finally scored it exactly 2 months ago.
Drug it home, (stopped by the tire shop to fix a flat) and the next day, tore it down to begin the process of dropping it on the ground.
In one day we had it in pieces and the rolling chassis in the garage to begin the transformation to a bagged driver.
***Here's where it gets interesting. I would not even consider buying one of those super expensive front crossmembers. Coming from a carpentry background I envisioned a "bridge" drop up front instead of a "Z" or something like that.
Now, if this offends you, I apologize, not for doing what I want to my truck, but just for posting it on yall'z forum.
If it doesn't then follow along. I will show you something that everybody said could not be done and should not be done. Well, I disagree.
From my perspective, it was pretty straight forward way to accomplish my goals of dropping my truck without spending a ton of money doing it.
