Just pulled into the house, 19 hours straight from Blythe to Austin area....ran like a top !
Splendid!
So not too many folks, me included, would jump into a 40 year old car, basically sight unseen, armed with a Leatherman, cell phone and credit card and not expect to use all 3, especially the second two devices.
Presuming the drivetrain is just as clean and tight as the truck appears from the outside?
Let’s hear some details about it!

Just discovered the charcoal canister sent crap into the carb. Saw all these, what I thought were mouse turds, turned out to be charcoal hah! Hopefully on the road soon, we’ll see...

I have a series of posts that describe how, and why this happens - you might want to take a look, glad you made it home.

Back on the road, made it to Blythe. I found a real cool guy within walking distance of the truck, go figure, he took carb off and rebuilt it this morning. It had all kinds of charcoal inside. Runs like a top now....so far. Slept ( not much) in the cold cab last night, I’m bailing early today. Zzzzzz

There has been a few posts mentioning this issue. I wonder if it is worthwhile fitting some type of inline filter to the vacuum line,

Other than the pert bewbie, it reminds me that it is still 2.5 hours south of there before I get home...

Beat me to it!!

Won’t be easy to forget her. Everywhere I look, something reminds me of her.

just updating an ol’ thread…

I‘m sorry y’all I don't follow up as I should , just too many darn projects….from real estate to trucks and much in between, just like most of us I’m sure.

the truck is tucked away in the corner of the shop with company, waiting, for
what ? I’m not sure.

might be time to let er go as I have quite a few of these ol’ fellas and time is not on my side.
