Ok, I have put 40 series flowmasters on my 77 c10 350 SB. Long tube headers with 2 1/2" pipe, center in center out with about 22" after the mufflers, slightly turned out towards the front of the rear wheels. I've had to have to new sets pit on already. The first time they lasted about 6 months. This time the drivers side muffler sounds like one of the baffles has broke loose. Hard to explain over typing. But kinda sounds like pompompom. I dunno. They sounds good. What I'm wondering, is there another type of muffler that would give the truck a deeper tone and last longer than these?? Would flowtech warlock 2's work? What would you suggest. I've always had flowmasters on my vehicles. Not have such good luck with these.

Just remember cut off the cats before you take it into the muffler shop

Just installed a new pair on brownie, i can hear myself think, and less chance of a citation than stubbing out just behind the cab

You sure they are selling you flowmasters and not the chinese knock offs?
Magnaflow is my muffler of choice.
Been there and done that with the Rustfasters...total gimmik mufflers.

I just put a pair of Thrush Glass packs (2 1/4 pipe and 27" long model) and they sound awesome. Plus...25 bucks each saves some cash.

I've had very good luck with my Flowmasters over the years but I've certainly heard my fair share of people who've had terrible luck with them as well. If I was you I'd go with Magnaflow. They have a good choice of many mufflers of different variations dependent on your desires for sound and put out a good product. I've been running a Magnaflow on my Burb for a couple of years now and am very happy with it.

i must be getting old since i just buy three chamber whisper quiet mufflers these days
flowmaster mufflers are ok but they seem to fall out after 3-4 years service in my state and glasspacks are too loud.

I went with the Thrush welded mufflers. Pretty much the same thing as a flowmaster but a fraction of the cost. A bit loud, but if I want a quiet truck I drive my Silverado with the stock exhaust.

glasspacks aint depp imo they are just loud and crackle and junk which annoys me anymore. now dumped glasspacks are ok but tailpiped ones are annoying.

I say run flowmasters, if not then do cherry bomb extremes, depe and loud like a flowmaster. we ran a flow 40 for years and it was used no issues, same with the cherry bombs.

I've even had the knock-off Flowmasters last several years.

Lately I've really been liking the sound of my Hooker Aerochambers the best. That and the exhaust on my '90 Burb, it's just stock single 3 inch exhaust that is rusted off after the convertor, lol.

Aerochambers are nice... you can use them as a pulse wave termination chamber on a multi muffler system. we did it on a Vette one time. the biggest arechamber available, dual 2 1/2 in/out, and then Magnaflows as final mufflers...ohhhhh ****! The sound that baby made!

I'll just put it this way...a 22" Maganflow resonator and a 14" Magnaflow muffler made even my old 4-cyl Honda sound...acceptable. :D

Proof...

And now for something that sounds decent...

Another vote for Magnaflow. I've got single 3" on my K5 and so far I like it.

The truck I am currently working on still has the original mufflers (matter of fact everything is original except the hangers).

The mufflers look like hell:

These mufflers are still available from GM dealers for huge $$. Nalley for example lists them for $677.05.

MUFFLER. Exhaust. (2 Wheel Drive) (4 Wheel Drive) $677.05 15529620

So, as much as I think they are the best muffler available - for that kind of money, mine were going to stay.

Even though they look bad they are still intact.

Then today I found one each at two different places ( each place only had one left in stock).

Got one for $379 and the other for $239.

These are only for dual exhaust systems with HD emissions and no catalytic converters.

Thats what I am running on my 3.5 Magnum, 18" primary muffler, then a 14" as a resonator. I have been told it sounds like a Maserati when I stomp on it.
