Modifying Brake Pedal

I know there are a few post on switching from the hydroboost to power brake boost.

I've purchased a power brake boost brake pedal from a C30 that had an AT and power brakes. I've looked at different post to see the differences between the hydroboost and power brake boost pedals.

The power brake boost pedal has the push rod pivot point in a different location than the hydroboost and also the brake light switch bracket.

Now my question/idea:

I was thinking about keeping my hydroboost pedal and just drilling a new hole for the push rod pivot point to match that of a power boost pivot point and will be able to keep my brake light/cruise control switch bracket in the original location.

Any thought?

The pin for the push rod is swedged into position and you’ll have to do some grinding and use a bfh to remove it. Hope you can weld because I guarantee you’ll have a bad day if it comes out while driving.

I would imagine that if the length of pedal travel and pushrod angle don't vary too much it is worth a try especially if you have the "proper" pedal.

I can weld. I have both a wire and stick welder.

My pedal is the hydroboost pedal that came from the factory. Switching this thing from a diesel to gas has been a learning experience.

I took apart the brake pedal today and found that the pivot pin in the C30 pedal I bought is the same centered position but up about a half inch. I don't believe I'll switch them out.

I also adjusted the push rod out as far as I could and did find that I had better brakes, booster still bad, motor speeds up when I press on the brakes. Maybe just needs a longer push rod.

I'll go back to the junk yard and get the push rod from the truck I got the pedal from. I "think" that it looked longer.

you need a non hydro pedal.. and they are dirt common.. just go grab the right one from a truck, easy and cheap, i am looking for a hydro one.. wish could trade hmm.. once i find me a hydro unit and hydro style p/s pumpp too(two return lines into the back of pump reservoir) can i can though.

you could get a saginaw with no attached reservoir and a tank that has two inlets might be cheape

Just going through the pedal swap thing here. Going from vacuum to hydro. Hydro pedal is longer, pin/holes different locations, rod “studs” different diameter.
