Missing power steering bracket

Hello,

I have a 1981 gmc, k2500 pickup. Noticed it is missing a part that attaches the outside of the power steering pump to the motor.

Does anyone know what part I'm looking for?

You are missing two brackets. This is an 84 a/c, looks to be the same brackets on the pumps.

Check out that bolt hole on the front of the head closest to the intake. Looks like you might have a sheared off bolt in your head, which could explain one of the missing brackets.

Almost every SBC header has a footnote about needing to buy a new PS bracket to use with the headers. I assume it replaces the one you are missing, so it might be an easy part to find online or in the store.

You have headers installed. There was a bracket that attached to one of the manifold bolts. When you install headers you are supposed to cut out a section of that bracket so it can bolt back up to one of the header flanges. The problem is the bracket still needs to be attached to the one of the header bolts but the header flange is only 3/8" thick. That same bolt used to be attached to the manifold that was at least 1.5" thick. So you need to build up a sleeve of washers or buy a sleeve to go over the longer bolt to take up that extra bolt length before the factory bracket can bolted back on. LMC sells part # 36-6023 specifically for that purpose.
I have to assume that bracket was just shitcanned because it wouldn't fit instead of modifying it.

Good advice, you can use old caliper sleeves for shimming to the correct thickness on the bracket to header. I keep all the old caliper bushings for these kind of situations
