While it costs no more to coax more horsepurrs out of a 350 than it does a 305, and the bore does equate to more power, we were pulling 330 horsepurrs out of 283's in the '70s. If you are doing a budget build and already have a decent 305, if you can't find a reasonably priced, rebuildable 350, go with the 305, and just save up for the 350 you want to build.
