Curious to know what driveshaft length you've used. Have a 454 th400 10 bolt swb 2wd . The engine and trans were swapped in a 79 C10 truck that originally had 350/th350 combo. The th400 had a bolt on yoke, so I ordered the conversion slip yoke from Denny's DriveShaft. I'm trying to use the original th350 driveshaft and just have it lengthened. From the end of the th400 output shaft housing to the center of the pinion yoke, I have 61 inches. I think with the slip yoke I'm supposed to add another 3/4 to 1 inch. Am I doing this measurement correctly? Does anybody else have experience with this and know the length of the one piece shaft? Thanks for your input.

I would put the slip yoke in the tranny and leave an inch or so for supension travel and measure from center to center on the u-joint caps.

FYI It's cheaper to have one shortened. I slip yoke made because I wasn't paying that for a yoke it cost me 60. But push the yoke all the way in and pull it out 3/4 of an inch use 3/4" painters tape i case you bump it during measuring. The measure center to center on the U-joint bosses.

That is correct, push yoke all the way in and pull it it back an inch and measure center to center, and measure it with the vehicle on the ground not with the rear end suspended in the air..

What do you mean by loaded susspension? Sitting on ground or weight added to susspension?

Short box and Big Block... serious traction issues at hand... err, under foot.
