Mechanical fuel pump

[1975 fleet]

BBC mechanical fuel pump has 6 psi cold ( fast idle, 4 psi warmed up). Running Quick Fuel 570 cfm carb.

I’m in... BBC with q-jet using the OE TBI pump with a regulator, 5.5 - 6 psi from idle to WOT.

If the OP is asking if what he has is sufficient enough? I'd say the carb is too small if it's indeed a 570cfm on a big block, but that's just my opinion. Maybe he will elaborate more.

I've never measured my pressure.

When it stops working, I replace it.


Also agree, 570 is too small for a 454 396.
