The guy whose dad has the truck has been out on vacation since we spoke. Hopefully he got together with his dad over the holidays and he will give me some good news when he gets back after the first of the year.

So, with some highway gears (not sure what was available for a 4wd), an overdrive transmission, tall tires, and free flowing exhaust, do you think you could squeak 15mpg out of a long bed 4wd C20 with a 350 v8??

I'm about to approach this guy again and I was seriously thinking that if I got this truck, I might want to use it as my daily driver in good weather. But if the best I can do is get 10 mpg, I simply can't stomach the gas bill. It might not be bad right now when gas around here is less than $2, but we all know it could be back up to $3.50 in a heart beat.

Stock with overdrive, 3.73 gears, 4x4 3/4 will do 15mpg highway. ( verified with my suburban)

It's all set. I leave in the morning to go see the truck. If all goes well I will drop off the rental car while I am there and drive the truck home. I spoke to the 75 year old original owner last night and he said I would be "tickled at the condition" of this truck.
