29 degrees out side last night.
Just 3 young men out building a new 3 inch exhaust for the underside of this little truck.
He hated the glass packs with a passion, so he went and picked up his universal set of 3 inch pipes from storage.
Then it was time to start chopping and welding.

This is what they came up with.
3 inch to a band clamp will connect to the existing piping for now.
Then it can either be ran through the muffler or out of the dump.
Mufflers are Jones Flow Pack singe chambers that sound much better than the Flowmaster 10 series mufflers he tried first.

At my issistance they linked the pipes together to help stabilize it all.
20 year old Ford Tech Jake is doing the welding.

Boom!
High tech washer for connection dug straight out of the random hardware bucket.

Here they start on the passenger side pipe.
You can see the old set up in the back up against my truck, it will go back into the hoard until it is needed again.

They all have several cars each.
Max has the '49 truck, a '55 Bel Air, and my old '73 VW.
Jake has a '69 Fairlane and a '83 F-250 4x4.
Jacob has a '66 K10, a '73 AMC Hornet, a Jeep Wrangler dressed like a Jurassic Park Jeep, and a '91 Cherokee.
Hot rodding is still alive, it just needs to be encouraged.

You can also see that Max has tubbed the truck 4" and can now fit that 275/60/15 with all kinds of room to spare.
Next is to try out the 295's we have on a different set of wheels that have a different offset...

Because I know you all like to see and hear stuff too....
The engine was still pretty cold and didn't want to idle well in gear.
Not bad sounding from a cheesy little "RV" cam with 9:1 compression in a 307 with Summit Vortec heads on it...

Jaz fuel cell I told him to buy at the last swap meet for a massive $35.
It had the pickup and roll over valve in it still as well as a functioning fuel sender.
So for under $100 he has a 22 gallon fuel cell that will work much better than the boat tank that the truck came with.
He only got the one strap for it, so we went and purchased some flat aluminum strap that we have to bend up to match the current one. Then we will be bolting it to the bed with nuts and bolts that pass through the wood.
You can also see the wheel tubs that were installed and painted silver to sort of match the bed color.

One of the 3 inch turn downs can bee seen here.
As well as those sweet sweet Cooper 275's that are on it now with the fender bolted back on.

He took the truck to Jakes house last night and swapped some wheels and tires around for the front.
It now sits on a set of 235/60's that match the Coopers that are on the rear of the truck with the matching set of wheels, center caps, and trim rings.

@Catbox This is am awesome thread. I am just now seeing it. There is an old late 40's - early 50's Chevey that sits right down the street from my house I dream of asking about one day to rod one day. I will have to find a pic or try to snap one.

This is the 3100 in my neighborhood. It just sits there. Looking sad and awesome to folks like us. Probably in the deep end of rust and rot. Just snapped this while driving in the rain. I love seeing these 3100's turned badass. I hope Maxwellvis keeps on truckin!

Max just informed me that the engine will rip right to 6,500 rpm with no issues.

I also just stepped outside to take a current photo of it that shows the matching wheels and tires.
As well as the repainted rear fenders.
The guy he bought it from did the fake patina crap to it and sanded holes in the paint and it looks like doo doo.
So we went to Home Depot and bought several cans of the house brand flat black that will be used to recolor the fenders and what not to get rid of that stuff.
235/60/15's on front.
275/60/15's on the back.
The wheels are a set he got from Craigslist that were inexpensive and complete.
Not what he wants to run in the overall picture of the truck, but totally good enough for now.
I have him liking Astro Supremes for it, they just don't make them super wide.

Love the LED strip on the back of this old beast really makes it have some character for sure.
I made him get that.
He pulled away from the house one night and the truck all but disappeared.
The stock lights are bright, just not enough to see that they are attached to a vehicle.
The paint simply absorbs all the light around it, so perfect camo for a old timey booze runner.
Not so good for driving in the city at night.
