Anyone have any experience with these? I'm sure they are expensive and suck to get parts for.

I didn't know this was a thing! I'd be very interested in this.

I'm sure they are a custom, one-off build that are expensive. Just keep in mind that the T56 will bolt up to Gen I/II SBCs. The TR6060 will bolt up to Gen III/IV/V SBCs.

I am running a 5.3/NV4500/205 combo in my 77K10 with 4.56 gears on 35in tires. 70mph at about 2400 rpm. Advance Adapters and High Impact are great sources for a NV4500 swap. dougbert’s thread is full of great info.

This is the exact setup I want. I wish I could find a cheap NV4500.

I couldn’t find one in any of the wrecking yards around me. Ended up buying a rebuilt trans through High Impact.

I've been searching the yards but the only thing I ever find is a 2WD variant of the NV3500. I don't see many 2500/3500 vehicles in my local yards unless they are 2WD vans.

Hahahaha
Over 20 years ago, and I had no idea at the time, but I thought the 5speed was going TU in my 1990 GMC. Found a NV4500 4wd trans out of a 93 iirc.
Ended up never needing it. Put it up for sale. I left town for work for a couple days and the wife had 3 different people at the house Monday night at the same time. They got in a bidding war over it and she pocketed like $150 more than my asking price!
