Mandrel exhaust shop

Has anyone found a good mandrel exhaust shop here in the great Northeast ? Preferably in MA but would consider NY CT RI VT NH also as I know they are few and far between, zero anywhere near Hicksville where I live !

I ordered a mandrel bent three inch exhaust kit from Eastwood when they were on sale a while back.
This may be the easiest way to get what you want.
It just takes some time and effort to cut and fit to your specific needs.

Then after it has been fitted, you can use band clamps and leave them.
Or then take it to a shop for welding if you cannot do that your self.

That is what my kid did for his '49 Chevy shown here with his buddies making it happen.

This was just a temporary set until he figured out how he wanted to do his tailpipes.

Now he has tailpipes routed all the way out the back of the truck.
Man did that temporary setup drum under the truck super bad.

I've never run across a single exhaust shop that does mandrel bends. Even back when custom exhaust shops were everywhere around here.

Yup, they dont do this even here in the south. Like Catbox said. Its best to buy a kit.

There was a popular guy in RI that specialized in Mandrel but he retired…. Kit ? Who makes a kit for a Square I’ve never seen one, diesel trucks a million kits to pic from….

There are tons of "universal kits".. I just buy 3" mandrel U or J pipes and a few sections of straight pipe and cut/weld to fit.

There's very few kits that are specific to a square. Your best bet is to get a universal kit.

Hooker used to sell mandrel bent kits in 2.25" and also 2.5". I believe Pypes and Flowtech maybe still sell kits as well?

I have a universal 3" kit for my Squarebody that is the same one that Max put under his '49.
It has plenty of fittings and straight pipes to make what you want, or close to it.
His now runs straight out the back under the bumper, mine will exit the rear side poking out similar to what I had on my Nova seen here.

Eastwood had them on sale one day for $140 plus shipping.
Shipping was another $60, but still cheaper than the next kit at $400.

Ahhh. Being from the racing world, mandrel really is unnecessary for 99% of street vehicles, that's why I asked. Even with a 572, especially in a truck, you wouldn't notice any difference in a crush 3" and a 3" mandrel as long as there wasn't any really tightly bent/pinched areas. But I get it, mandrel is nice. I'd eventually like to take my truck to a guy local here that does full stainless, mandrel, tigged exhausts in your choice of size and polishes it all up if you want. But that's a pipe dream

I feel really dumb for asking this but what is a mandrel exhaust shop?
Just an old regular exhaust shop with a tubing bender? Or is it a special machine? Just trying to understand lol
