Everything I've read says my 79 2wd c10 wheel bolt pattern should be 5". When I measure I get 4.75" Was it available in both sizes?

Nope.

It should be 5 hole, 5" center.

5 hole 4.75" center is a passenger car size (GM A body, for example). Either someone swapped your rotors/axle, redrilled to fit wheels they had, or you are measuring incorrectly.

Measuring a 5-lug pattern is different than a 4,6, or 8 lug pattern. To approximate the bolt 'circle', you measure from the center of one stud, to the backside of the opposite stud. So if you measured from center of stud, to center of stud, then a 5" pattern will come out as being 4.75" or thereabouts.

I think you cracked the case, detective.
