Does anyone happen to know what this factory plug with fairly thick gauge wires would be for? Wires are Purple and Yellow and does not appear to have ever been used. Directly left of steering column and right of headlight switch, just behind lower part of dash bezel.

So, the vehicle only starts in park or neutral already. If this was for neutral safety switch, wouldn't that be impossible? and there is not a pair of male pins available to accept the plug on the neutral safety switch…..confused.

Clutch pedal (neutral safety switch), for a manual trans.

Purple and yellow are the neutral safety switch circuit.

So with an automatic, that explains why it appears to be unused and loose.

Are you sure it was originally automatic? I’ve never seen dual plugs, an auto should have a different plug on a switch at the base of the column.

Mine, automatic from the factory according to the build sheet in the glove box, does in fact have the same exact feature in the wiring harness.

Pretty sure it was done as a cost savings measure, making the wiring harnesses essentially unisex so there wouldn't be any problems with the production line. IIRC

The neutral safety switch wires in my truck which came with a TH350 are drk. green, light green, one goes to the back up switch and lamps, and two purple wires, one goes back to the ignition switch. Are you saying yours has both?
