Loose steering,is this normal

Just wondering. My 1990 Sierra v3500 has some play, maybe typical?
Any way to tighten up m

Replace all wear items in the front suspension. Convert the steering shaft to the Jeep type and lose the rag joint in the process. Make sure frame isn't cracked where the steering box mounts. Set toe to 1/16th inch toe IN. Carry on.

They wander around a little bit.

Make sure your gear is adjusted. Should be 12 in lb preload, and 20 in lbs overcenter. The procedure is shown in the Unit Repair Manual.

Make sure the ball joints are good and not sticky. That can result in dartiness.

Run as much caster as you can tolerate. I have set them as high as 10 degrees.

Toe should be slightly in, like 1/16" to 1/8".
