How bad is your stuff? I usually feel it's easier to repair a rusty cab instead of replacing it. In your area, buying new front fenders is usually the best option, because solid parts can be hard to find. Solid or repairable beds can still be found in the classifieds (like craigslist) though. Or if you have money to spend and don't mind aftermarket parts, you can basically build a bed out of new parts.

Try this perhaps.
https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/pts/5345963089.html

I simply searched for chevy truck parts on the pittsburgh craigslist site. There were a few complete trucks that could make good donor trucks too.

I bought one from california for $850.00 this summer but it came complete with doors glass and all the interior and wiring. I see them for between $600 and $1000. if you add up the repair parts and consider your labor you can make a better decision. A cab swap is a lot of work too but in the end you have so much more than cheap chinese steel welded or riveted together. However I patched my current cab up over 10 years ago and it is still solid. I used steel rivets with fibered roofing cement (tar) in the seams instead of welding so the salt brine couldn't get in and it has held up really well. If I would have washed it more than 5 times and rustproofed it a few more times I wouldn't have had to touch my repairs at all since then.

I like to use 3M structural panel bonding adhesive for rockers and cab corners. It's just as strong as welding and it seals off any areas that would otherwise rust after welding. Only downside is cost and it takes a special applicator gun.

You can use something like Photobucket, or just upload them right to the site, using the "Manage Attachments" button that's located below where you type in a post.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is no such animal as a 1979 Chevy 1500. :sorry:

There is however, a 1979 K10, K20, and K30. A GMC would be a K15, K25, or K35. The K designates four wheel drive, C is two-wheel drive.

The 1500 designation wasn't used until the late eighties when Chevy's took on the Sierra name for pickups in general.
