Howdy guys - my first post here but I actually bought my 1988 R30 (1 ton dually crew cab 454) brand spanking new in 1989! That means I'm older than DIRT. And YES, it is a square body.

I recently had the *pleasure* of rebuilding the tilt steering column and it worked! Somehow in the mess I managed to disable my cruise control. I have one mystery wire dangling under my dash and I'll be darned if I can figure out where it plugs in - and I'm hoping this is the cause of my issue.

So, let's play "Name that electrical connector"connector'! and a six pack of your favorite adult beverage will be awarded to the winner! Here's the pix:

That may connect to the brake switch (for the cruise control).

Or it's for the 'Self-Destruct' button.

I believe that's the power and dimmer connector for the radio.

That makes sense, I tried to follow mine by looking up under the dash and didn't find that connector but I did find orange/brown wires spliced into the harness of my aftermarket radio.

I was thinkin ejector seat, but it's purple I think.
What ever happened to the brown with black stripe?

Before You plug that wire in and blow the whole truck to smithereens, You send the truck over to Me with the signed and notarized title and I`ll keep You out of harms way when I plug in the wire. Heck fire man, I`ll even drive over with the truck and a trailer and haul it all the way back here before plugging back in that wire.

I tried looking under my dash, but with it all back together I can't see the connector. It sort of looks like the one that connects to the multi-function switch for the wipers/cruise control. Here the plug that should connect to it.

This appears to be the constant power for the digital radio.
Does it have power? should be able to check the time with the key off.

Right, that is the 4 wire connector for the cruise.

No joy but thanks. The cigarette lighter has a single orange + wire going to it, the body of the lighter is grounded to the tray.

No beer for you! ;-)

That makes a lot of sense. I installed an aftermarket cd player a loooong time ago and most likely used a hot wire directly to that. That would explain the extra lead - and it's hot with the key off - so I think we have a winner! Ding Ding.

Now on to the cruise control.
