I didn't think the transmissions were different I just thought only diesels had an easy to access controller and harness. Aftermarket controllers are expensive. That's why I told him to grab the parts from a diesel.Sorry if I confused the issue. Yea some aftermarket controllers aren't super expensive but the cheap ones don't modulate line pressure, whereas grabbing the transmission the harness and controller from a diesel equipped 4l80 just seems like the most practical option.The transmission is the same. The gas engines that had a 4L80E would have all had TBI so they are controlled by that computer. The diesels used a stand-alone controller, but that doesn't mean the transmission itself is any different.
