I put the LMC one in my son's '77. It was ok on fit, not bad, but definitely not great.

I need to figure out how to reinforce the one for my CC since those aren't reproduced. Some say to do a light coat of fiberglass?

I have recovered at least 20 different headliners and there are some great instructions here.
The main thing I do different is the prep (I use a D/A Orbital sander to remove all foam and dust from the prior covering) and I always use Weldwood Landau Top and Trim Contact Adhesive. I use a cheap primer gun from Harbor Freight to spray it because I have found with some materials when you brush it on it gets to thick and runs through the material.
I also use Dynamat Extreme on the roof panel since I hate rattles even on a 50 year old car or truck and It really helps with the heat here in AZ.
I did my 67 Elcamino headliner over 25yrs ago and it was still fine when I took it out to start a new interior last year after sitting for 6 yrs completly closed up in my storage yard.

I've done a few racecars where the cage was to close to the roof to get a headliner throung and I just did sound deadner and glued the fabric right to the roof and they came out great.
If you havent done a lot of fiberglass then don't even think about this being a good starting point. I've done hundreds of fiberglass panels that I have covered or painted and the one I did in a 55 Buick was the hardest thing I've ever done. I also did one in an 60's C-10 and that was a nightmare as well.

Just re-covered my headliner for the '91 Suburban 4x4. Used the old boards, as they were in good shape. Ordered my material from Stock Interiors, as it was the closest shade match to their replacement carpet. Took the old boards and new material to my interior shop in Denton, TX. They do great work, and also do custom interiors for high end Peterbilt trucks. The majority of the cost was the labor in removing ALL the old material and glue residue (as was mentioned in a previous post). Photo is the recovered boards waiting to be reinstalled. I think they look nifty.

I assume the large holes are for the overhead console. I also need to figure out how to mount a 'burb console in my CC. There are a few write-ups on here but they all show without the headliner and using a bracket and everyone I TT says you don't use the bracket on a CC but haven't seen any pictures. Any idea? Hope to be passing through the Denton area to go to the Lone Star truck shows this spring.

No, I am a member from AZ that needs an in bed tire carrier for my son's '77 as he has a rear mount tank. But if I do end up coming that way, and you do need something from either AZ/ So-Cal, Id be happy to bring it.

Interesting... I never knew there was a difference, but I want to know too. I saved a headliner from a parts truck that I intend to put it in my K20 that never had a head liner, but now I wonder if it will work???

If I had to guess, I bet it has something to do with how the headliner fits underneath the plastic trim parts that run above the doors and rear window. Those part wouldn't exist in a cab without a headliner. In that case, how does the headliner fit/secure around the perimeter with no plastic trim parts???

I don't think there is any difference. As long as you have (or buy) the interior trim kit you should be good to go. The interior trim and the two brackets for the visors are what holds the headliner up. I am certain every cab made is the same (headliner v non headliner models". Just buy the trim kit and the headliner and you are ready.

Thanks for the clarification. I snagged the interior trim along with the headliner, so I should be set after drilling a few holes.

Now I'm just curious why LCM would offer headliners for trucks that "did not have an original headliner", as @Rudy Mienert astutely pointed out.

On RockAuto link you can see the difference between the Factory to non-Factory Headliners. My 77 K5 came with a headline and all of the moldings. When I removed the Headline molding there are round holes cut in the metal roof for ventilation? I can post a picture if interested.
