Hey All - I wanted to let everyone know - if you've considered 'dyeing' your carpet, I did it this weekend and it turned out great. I applied it twice.- 40 minutes apart

My original carpet was charcoal - I went black.

I ended up using the 'spray' Dupli-Color®’s High Performance Vinyl & Fabric - Originally, I was going to use the RIT DYE - but, ended up with the spray over the liquid dye because of availability I hate WAL-MART. I picked up the spray at my local auto parts.

Here's before and after...

Man that looks great... My carpet is still decent looking but it's maroon... I wonder how that would turn out using that same black over top of it

Is it crunchy or does it feel like regular carpet? I’ve been wanting to try this on some bucket seats I have but am scared they will turn out crunchy.

Texas 87R10 ifpr changes lile that, I'm not so sure spray would be best. You might have to do apply more than twice. -

but, for a color change like that - I would try the spray first, Because, you could always back it up with the RIT DYE - I watched a few videos on the RIT version - that stuff will for sure make a pretty drastic change --

I know someone who did this years ago. he used a kiddy pool filled about 3" deep and some 20 packs of Rit. Carpet came out pretty decent. The the neighbors little white dog that liked to swim came along and jumped in!

I was kidding that was attached to the post where said he had maroon carpet.Maroon with black stripes,it would be one of a kind.

I gotcha, that's funny. I didn't see that -I thought you were serious.

But, seriously stripes (or more lines) were an issue at first. - I had to get the handle on it. - it took a second, but it did blend good. I wish I had video'd it. - it's hard to explain. I drooped the carpet over the table and sprayed with the wind to my back. (it made difference)

1.25 cans first coat - .75 can the second coat.-

Im getting a few more cans for the kick panels.

If it's crunchy, hit it with a brush. Give it a good scrub and that should soften it up some.

The crunchy will go away. When I was showing trucks 20+ years ago I would use black paint to hide the small stuff that the vacuum and tape wouldn't get up.
