The E carbs were mostley a california deal, the ESC was on all of them from 82 to 86, but even then on select models. A vehicle meant to have an E carb, wont have vac advance, but just a 4 wire pigtail for the ECM controlled timing. The ESc dizzys with the Vac advance were there to try to curb knock.

Well, it definitely has a vac advance on the distributor.

I'm guessing from the codes that it's the original carb. The PO said he had just put a new carb on it recently. I'm thinking he decided to keep the new one and threw the old one back on.

I think it was actually 81 that all of them had ESC. I know of 2 different 81's 1/2 tons I scrapped, both had ESC.

That looks very similar to the 305/350 Carb I have on my 454. The high idle solenoid for the AC looks a bit different.

My stands corrected...dont see a lot of 81s.
