I have my old 77 c30 that I really haven't done anything with. Last time I fired it up I'm pretty sure I spun a bearing and I can't even get it into my shop to work on it. The guy who built the shop was into ricers and didn't think a garage door needed to be much bigger than a Honda Civic. Last summer I bought a 96 Nissan Pathfinder with 200k for $300. The catch is that the trans was pissing fluid faster than you could put it in. As my son is going to school to be a mechanic I let him at it and we finally got it up and running today. My son has wanted my 77 and so now it is his. I have cheated on you and left you for a ricer.

I do enjoy this forum so I will still be around, but I no longer have a square. Sorry.

you should be more proud of driving a Japanese vehicle.

not all of them are ricers. hell anymore mustangs are more ricey than civics are.

be proud to drive a vehicle that can go 1million miles on the factory engine.

be proud that you drive a car more likely assembled in america than ford,chevy, or dodge

be proud that you can fit in your garage and into small parking spots.

there is no reason to be ashamed. you can stand tall knowing that you dont have to fill you gas tank every week.

stand tall knowing that you are a man comfortable with his sexuality.

you dont need a big nut diesel truck to get women. all you need is your toyota prius and your fanny pack full of condoms.

stand strong brother for one day long after the chevy trucks spin their last tire. long after the mustangs have hit their last crowd of people and the hellcats litter boxes are full.

your Japanese vehicle will still be on the road buzzing around like a weedeater.

not sure about the pathfinder engine, but my cousin had an Xterra. it has an interference type engine. his was inside of the timing belt interval when it failed. so check that. I always take 15-20% off what they say. so if it's 100k I start to get ready to change it at 80k or so. then again, I know people who have 150k on a 80k timing belt without issue, but I'm not that brave. timing belt on some cars is a b-word, but I've found that the cars I've done it on are typically a Saturday afternoon job.

as far as reliability... I think many cars are much more reliable than people give them credit for. most people just suck at regular maintenance. my uncle had a regular old tbi 350 that had 870k when he swapped it a couple years back. he is religious about maintenance, as most pilots are.

I wish, my dd drops to 33 mpg in freezing temps and I fill up weekly but, I drive 80 miles a day.

lol yea i recently moved to the town i work in.

5 minute drive to work.

i fill up like once a month in my acura rsx. its actually one of the reasons i bought the square because gas mileage isnt a thing i care about living this close to work.

also my turbo civic gets 30mpg ive seen people who get 60mpg out of turbo civics with the proper tune.

I jest of course. However, my daily driver for the last 20 years has been a 97 Ford Ranger 2.3L 5 speed. While it needs some work, the thing still runs great. I'm at a point though where a clutch just isn't fun in a DD anymore. I also like the idea of 4WD in the winter.

I have no shame in this Nissan though. It has a few rattles, but the engine and trans are strong and it sounds new. Not bad for 200K on the clock. The timing belt has less than 15K on it, no worries there. Best of all, my son did 98% of the work and he was just busting with pride this morning when he followed me out of the development. He said it was fun to follow because "I did that!"! HELLS YEAH!!

I drive 60 miles a day (in my own vehicle) and this is fun to drive and comfortable. It also has AC and a sunroof. AC isn't critical up here but the sunroof is huge for me. I ruptured my left ear drum when I was young. It healed up but has always been sensitive to blowing air. This has made it uncomfortable to drive with windows down. With the sunroof open, I can open my window and move air without it rushing through my ear.

I'll still be here, For some strange reason I like you guys. That and my ole SB is still in the family. I have helped my son quite a bit with research. Damn kids have the world wired but he is still no match for my Google-Fu.

So for now I will keep living in sin with my *** step child.

Nissan has been my daily driver for the past 12 years and has been ultra reliable.

Still looks ok for 156,000 miles,
