Is it harmful to drive in "2" for long periods of time?

I'm not ducking the question , I welcome dialogue on that subject - in part because I am very curious about what you men think about it and maybe we can open some minds to new possibilities that will enrich everyone's driving experience with these great trucks.

Here is as good a place as any!

Perhaps we should start at the owner's manual. I wonder what it says about driving in "2"? o_O

I agree, it's not an issue, but knowing why would be nice. I'm speculating he needs to drive somewhere and only has one vehicle and it doesn't have "D" and only has "2" as a top gear. Or has a long haul up a steep grade and needs "2" to get to the top.

Or maybe the indicator is not adjusted properly and when it's pointing at D it's really in 2, which is not a problem to the owner who drives it daily but when the owners daughter needs to borrow the truck and drives all over Fayetteville NC in second gear said owner may be concerned! She said to me later that day, your old truck is really peppy and loud but those brakes will get you in trouble in this town. It hit me then. Not worried though, I put that engine together.

My buddy's wife took his Toyota (serves him right) to see her folks. When she came home after the weekend she casually mentioned the truck sounded "kinda funny". She drove 4 hrs in 4x4 low, at speeds around 60 mph. ****** his engine, it was rattling and almost no oil left in it.

Anytime you loan out a vehicle that has electric 4wd transfer case

Always always pull the fuse for it
Someone everyone manages to flip the switch
