I just drilled one last weekend, use a yard stick to pencil draw your straight lines on your tailgate. Drill the first small hole on the far right side, put the trim piece on to confirm location. If it’s lined up, drill larger holes until the final right size. Then measure the center to center hole distance for the next hole on the trim piece and transfer the distance to your pencil grid. Repeat drill as previously drilled hole, repeat for next two holes. I used a metal rose tip in my dremel to pre drill my hole so my drill bit would not walk. These were the measurements for my holes for reference. Measure multiple times to confirm before drilling. My holes lined up perfectly. My center was 7.375” from tailgate bottom edge. First hole was 9.125” from right edge. I transferred these to a new tailgate using my old trim. I welded these holes up to paint the tailgate for a second tailgate if I like it without trim. I actually like the raised Chevrolet letters, perhaps more than the trim.
