What do y’all suggest to do to get rid of the vacuum lines and the weird valve cover on my 81 k10 it’s a inline 6 250ci with a 4 speed, I figured change the valve cover and intake and carburetor that’s on it, if anyone has took one of these engines and converted them to a more simple way I’d like to see a picture, this is mine in the picture.

Looks like the California head. Does it have integrated intake and exhaust manifold? I don't think the regular cover fits. I remember searching for an older head to put on my 250.

All 50 states had the 250's with the integral head/intake manifold.

It is an integral head, and the vacuum and piping on top is the Pulse AIR system. I think there is an integral head valve cover without the Pulse AIR system. They would be '75 to '78-ish.
Keep in mind the integral heads are known for cracking, so it may need to go away all together.
Some people try to make them look more 'festive' with color :D

I do appreciate the advice I didn’t know that, I know it’s the only inline 6 I’ve seen in a Chevy with this many lines on it lol, I will rebuild carburetor and continue driving

I am working on the same engine/project. Soon. Trying to get a few dump loads in before taking it apart. I was looking at a new head (from a 70 Nova, which I now have) and separate intake and exhaust, but this required a catalyst replacement with the new exhaust, or perhaps EFI to feed the cat. The budget just got too big, pushing $3000 for all that. So, I'm going to disassemble the valve cover and other top of motor crap and clean up the mess. So many valves. Will try to clean up and replace hoses that are crap.

The engine runs fine, but it has a tap in the valve train that I'm going to go after at the same time. Will update you after I do the work, but, I think it will be a while..Not sure when I'll get to it.

Cut the extra boxes off the top of your original cover at the spot welds. Plug or reuse the holes in the cover, plus plug the holes at the other end of the AIR lines with a pipe plug.

Repaint and reinstall.

If you were asking me, I use Penn grade high zinc oil 10W40 with MOA additive. The tap is very clearly a mechanical bang.. Once each rotation. Something is clearly amiss. I have slow mo video that very clearly lets you hear the tap as a mechanical issue. I'm hoping for a bad pushrod or lifter issue.

Try a quart of ATF in the crankase for the valve train noise. It worked wonders on my 6.2.
