But I agree it’s not an easy question to answer
For example
You can spend 5k on an airbag kit all the way around these things and think it’ll pump your value up likewise.. but personally I wouldn’t want it.
I’d be looking at what I’d have to maintain/ replace down the road.
But someone somewhere would give you that for the bags...
Just yer opinion on the matter
I like the LS engine not everyone does.
My 350 was dead/ tired, my wiring was ruined, my gas tank was bad my tranny needed a rebuild.
I was pretty much at a rolling shell so I opted to LS. But I’d love one with a carbed vortec in her too.
But I’m not into flipping cars I keep what I own

Resale was not the driving force that drove me to do an LS swap. Besides, it was fun to do. I have owned my 77 for 19 years now. Planning on driving the wheels off it for many more. With any luck one of boys will end up with it.

Just my opinion..... These old Chevrolet trucks are valued ( by guys and girls who grew up with them) for their simplicity and originality. When you install modern motors and interiors, huge rims etc, you diminish what they are. I would pay more for an original truck. Ls motor belongs in a modern truck.
Im behind you on that! Hence why i kept my numbers matching motor and trans

I'm all matching. I think there's a little bit to be said for that.
And I don't think restoring these trucks is necessarily a losing proposition if you do it right and don't count your time at $50/hr.
I'm planning on sinking about 2-3k in to mine in parts and paint, and I'm pretty sure I can end up ahead by a couple k. Just a lot of work.

and don't count your time at $50/hr.

I get that from people on Youtube all the time, "what's your time worth". I'm in it for the glory lol, not the money. I'm having fun, this is how I relax, rolling around in the dirt hurting my hands :anitoof:. I don't understand people who factor cost in, if price of time is a concern, then it's a job and not a hobby.
