That a magnet? That's a damn good idea.
I'm betting its a "tattletale" heat tab. They melt/dissolve if they get hot. It's a sure fire way to prove an engine has been hot. Back in my engine shop days we'd put something similar on every engine we'd rebuild. It only took one fight with a customer who'd obviously way overheated and cooked an engine and the ensuing fight for the owner of the engine shop to make the decision to install those little buggers on all rebuilds. However, it does also resemble a magnet and is a pretty good idea if that's the case given the location of return oil!
Still impressive, but actaully power starts to fall off a bit at 5K.Wow, power still climbing a 6k rpm... that things a monster
