Totally different setup, but I had a Mazda 626 one time and got the idea to put an Accel coil in it when I did a tune up to see if it made a difference in acceleration. After about 2 weeks, the car would randomly die after the car got nice and warm. After I let it sit and cool, it would fire right up. I kept thinking it was something with the fuel cut-off hooked up to the alarm, but bypassing that didn't fix it. Finally, I started examining the recent parts installations and decided to go get a cheap-o standard replacement coil and it never did it again. Sounds exactly like what your's is doing. I even thing it dragged some when trying to restart, but it was a LOOOONG time ago. I remember I kept checking battery voltage and disconnecting my amps, so something was leaning me that way.

If you still have problems, let me know. I'm the resident electrical guru around here and don't mind making a house call.

Okay first of all thanks to Foamy Pirate for reminding me that I do have HEI and not a conventional distributor, when I picked the first accel inginiton coil I got the old style which sits outside the cap... If it would have been for Foamy I could have be still out there trying to find where the hell to put it.

After I got the right part I took it for a drive to the corner store to fill up and no problems at all. Hopefully it will stay the way for a long time...

Thanks to everyone that comment and make suggestions without your input I couldn't have done it.

In another note my wife found what it looks like my RPO I was able to see it is a Camper Special edition the rest of the items installed I will check them and post tht info... It has heavy duty from springs and a 14 bolt axle which maybe a 4:10 or something else...

Cool !!!

Also, if your RPO codes are listed, there is an RPO code for your axle ratio. 4.10 was the most common.
