That was a lot of help....

Correct that is not your drive shaft. That is your steering shaft, rag joint and steering gear box.

Okay I need all the input I can get to get.......

Now what is the problem? Your gonna need to provide more input than just a pic.....

I knew I was wrong, and I take the advice with the sarcasm too.

It wont turn, the joint plate is broken and the ring around it... I was backing up of a parking space and when I tried to turn left to take off, I heard the snap and now is sitting there... on the curb... while I do the research and get what I need to fix it, and get back to work.

thanks.

Argh, unfortunately you'd also have to change the steering column if it hasn't been done. :(

You can get replacement rag joints at most auto parts store. But they just go bad again in a short time.

I did see that Wrench-A-Part got in some 1978-83 trucks if you want to go ahead and do the mod. If you need help, I am available most of the weekend, Pflugerville isn't that far from me.

I also have a couple of already modded shafts.

I need this thing going, not sitting there, I think I'm going to get the rag joints and replace those and get it going...

I think you're okay with a replacement rag joint. It should come with the brackets that bolt to the shaft and splined part. But it appears to be about $50. It's a steering coupler when you go to the parts store.

I could really use the help, I like to do as much repairs as I can, I have a friend that has a 16 year old boy that wants to learn to so he wants to come help and learn... would sell me one of those shafts?

You bet. I have dr's appts today and tomorrow. You would just need to update the steering column ($45 at Wrench A Part - might be $34 if I go and Angie is the cashier!) and I'll just give you one of the modded shafts, I have so little in it and would like to help a squarebody owner. :waytogo:
