this has been in my family since new, i cant remember the year off the top of my head but its somewhere 1936 to 1946 I believe.

we do have this massey-harris 44 which is a 1936-8 iirc. continental 4 cylinder gas

John deere Model R. I believe it was there first Diesel and it had a gas pony.
My friends Grandpa had one he used at the tractor pulls.

nice. The closest thing in my yard to diesel tractor is the 6 cylinder oliver which the engine options were bi fuel, cng, gas, kerosene, diesel I believe. the block would be the same but the innerds and top end would be different.

I think the R was a big 1 or 2 cylinder. Almost sounds like a hit n miss. That's probably why I like them. They sound cool and have some Grunt!

Tractors are awesome. We have a couple of "blue " models, they can:
* tow your projects when there is no motor in it
* push your projects into the barn ( even if there is no ramp up ) - build a thick wooden push block for this !
* if you have a loader attachment with forks then they will lift cabs and tubs, perform engine swaps
* unload your new project "baby"rom the back of a truck
* load the garbage you just sold to the next guy
* stack stuff
* unstack stuff
* move stuff over uneven ground or dirt, where a regular fork with little wheels is useless
* grade the drive for more project vehicle parking space
etc. etc. ..
* apparently they can be useful for "farming" too !

Grew up with John Deere tractors had an a and a B a 26,30 of 5400 and is 630 Johnny Popper that’s the later model the R was the biggest two or three cylinder model that John Deere made very heavy duty always wanted one I put thousands of hours on the seat of my old Johnny popper. If you hook onto anything that acts like it does not want to move, do not give it more throttle. There’s no ROP on these old guys & the front could come up over your head, but it wont stop there.

If you're going to drag race it, you can try and find the front wheel axle mod:

You want the added weight up front for sure.
It will drag a lawn mower or a small disc or a driveway mesh real good.

The picture of the gentleman pulling the sled looks wrong to me, without front weights added.

Even a few plates can make a huge difference with these light lawnmowers, without a headache rack.

Those pretty white stickers tell the tail!
You'll get huge points if that seat has the original candy but seat cover!
I would replace it with a new-er one and break it out for shows only, if it is OEM.

Modding the front wheels will not hurt the show points only the stability at the drags.
Bending the frame with the narrow wheels, under stress or a heavy load, can happen.

Well...she is my wife and it was the tractor that her dad restored so...when she said that her brother had no means for it then she asked about buying it actually. My gal, she's #1! She loves that hot rods and four wheeling stuff.

This is my gal as we were on the highest point (locally) that I could carry her so that I could propose marriage to her. Uwharrie National Forest outside of Troy, NC. In the background you'll see my old "rock-rig"; 78 K5 with CUCV axles, 37x12.50 GY OZ's, 350 engine with TH350/NP205.
