I sure hope that works out. 6 hour drive is a long one to get there and find out it's not in the shape you think it is. Price is right for sure but it does have lots of surface rust and will need blasted for sure, and then a good coat of something. Maybe primer and chassis paint or POR15. Maybe just blast it, then POR 15 it. The thing with POR15 the way I understand it, is it's a rust CONVERTER, so you have to have some rust there for it to do it's job. So that might be the product you look into.

IN pic #3 of the CL listing.. What's going on with that cab mount on the passenger side? It kinda looks like it pulled away from the frame? Is it the angle of the pic or what??? It looks like it's pulled away on one side. I'd sure be asking about that. Did it pull away from a rust thru on the rivets?

Ospho works pretty well too for killing rust and is pretty cheap, too bad you live so far up north, I could get you a frame for free almost, and in a lot better shape lol, but stuff doesn't get so rusty down here unless it was a farm truck, then the cow poopoo eats them up.

i talked to the guy for hours and i told him, listen im not going to drive 6 hours from buffalo to look at **** or somthing that is bent. He was very understanding telling me he drove to texas for a peice of **** and wouldndt do that to another person. Thats why he sent me all those pics. Im going to use my buddies sand blaster and clean it up.


And that cab mount i think is the pic. I asked and he said its ok

Sand blast it, let it sit outside for a couple weeks, wire brush it, clean it with POR's metal prep, POR 15 it, and then top coat it. POR is moisture curing, you need some rust for it to bite properly.

EXACTLY. I hear of people using POR15 as a rust PREVENTIVE. That won't work. It must have rust to convert otherwise it's pretty much just expensive ass paint.
