Sorry it took so long to respond. As I recall, I used a very smooth sandpaper. I didn't spend a whole lot of time with this step. Just enough to kind of remove any high spots and give it a little bit of roughness to stick to. Then I sprayed it down with a degreaser spray (409, Goof Off spray, etc.). Then I masked off and painted with Rustoleum spray paint. Seems like I used a semi gloss that has paint and primer combined. Use two or three very light coats, with dry time inbetween. Not much you can do for pock marks that I know of. I don't remember seeing much.Hey Mister B. The bezels look GREAT!!!! Can you please tell me what your procedure/steps were to prep and paint the black inner bezel next to headlights. What type of paint did you use. Did you use any primer? I have some that I need to freshen up the Argent Grey color and want to do it right so it doesn't flake off. Also, did you have any pock areas and how did you handle/fix those.

I pulled the truck out of winter storage last week and everything is still holding up as you can see
