I buy all my stuff at local gov't auctions and I was wanting a good, honest, and basic truck. I came across this 87 V20 and couldn't resist.
Its pretty much rust free and was stored inside a building as it was owned by a rural fire dept. Has a 350tbi with SM465. I love this truck already. Its really basic. No ac, no dome light, no radio. No dimmer on the rear view.
I changed the fluids and replaced the clutch slave cylinder and have been driving it around town and to work.
I want to get the truck up to 100%. Its a nice solid start and everything works. Not sure exactly what all I plan to do to it yet. I'm inclined to leave it mostly as is and keep it simple. My previous square body was an 84 (I think) Suburban 4x4. Both my grandads had square body trucks when I was a kid. One had a fancy 86 Blazer he bought new the other had an old utility bed truck like mine but more beat on. Both were 6 cylinders.
I'm CB. I live in Lake County central FL. I mostly mess around with used school buses. I've got a 99 Thomas/Freightliner currently. Its got a 5" lift and a healthy low mile Cat 3126. It cruises at 80+.
Glad to have found this forum, seems like a good one. Thanks for having me.
