I know some guys cant wait to cut up their dash to install a single din CD radio but I have yet to see a flawless install, they all ways seem to not quite fit just right. For me I prefer the post type radio, it just seems to fit the look of the truck to me.

Here is what I did to repair mine with a donor piece and a few screws and nuts.

Easy and cheap, and the last pic is how my 82 turned out after the same repair.

You cut that out of A truck at a yard? Yards around here don't let you cut anything. Looks like an way fix. I want to do this to my truck as well

The donor piece in my 82 I got from a local junk yard out of a truck they were stripping to crush and the one I just installed today was from a cab that was rolled over that a friend has behind his shop.

That pissed me off so bad about my Burb. I ended up just riveting a steel plate over the mess, after custom fitting it to my stock radio.

That's a real shame, a lot of nice trucks get butchered up just for a fancy radio, regardless of if it looks good or not.

Whats real nice about repairing it this way is because the dash is stamped metal, the donor piece fits nice and snug with the original dash...fits just like two paper plates.

Exactly. I just couldn't find a square at any of the yards to get a donor piece.

I have a complete dash I can get one out of if someone needs it. I was going to try an sell the whole dash but it will be a pain to ship.
