If your wheel doesn’t lock after reassembly, check this spring. It hooks the lock rod and is inside the slot on the black spur gear thingy.
At this point of assembly, the key cylinder is removed, but you can still turn it by hand to ensure everything’s working (ignition switch, wheel lock).
If bearings fall apart, they’re done. Replace them. I pack the new ones with grease. They’re press fit, kit comes with races and all. Pretty cheap but that’s a bench job, and not an in the truck job.
To get the harness out, it’s easy to de pin the connector, tape a string to the wires and pull them back. Same for the cruise wires.
The 4 common loose bolts are External Torx “E8” take them out 1 at a time, clean and locktite them.
With those tight, and new bearings, it will feel like brand new.
